As the Chief Curator, Stylist, and Creator of 1984V, I felt it necessary to give some context on why I built this brand.
As a true lover of all things vintage and dope, it was inevitable for me to create a brand that would not only move me but the audience.
Too many times, I hear people mention that they love vintage, but they have several reasons why they don't wear it.
I too had similar issues with vintage until I realized I could provide not only a solution, but a new perspective.
I wanted to be the destination spot, for noteworthy vintage pieces that my audience would trust when shopping!
Vintage just needs to be brought back to life. Almost like a resurrection or new activation.
So that is why we take our time to carefully curate each piece while creating strategic mini collections, in hopes that our supporters will enjoy experiencing our version of vintage.
I love when people ask where did we get an item, as they think it's fast fashion...when in fact it's not.
It's simply in how we chose to wear and style our pieces.
As a classic lady with a bit of an edge, my style is ever-changing, but remains sophisticated, timeless, and tasteful.
Growing up wearing vintage "hand me downs" naturally made me a fan, though it wasn't until later in life that I understood the value.
Having worked in luxury retail for over a decade, I realized it has shaped my point of view and allowed me to offer vintage at a luxurious level.
Just because something is from an older time period, does not mean it's not special or lacks in value.
Once I fully grasped this, I was able to define my WHY. In my opinion, vintage is in fact more valuable than most luxury clothing.
Think about it, clothing that is aged 20+ years and is still in good condition, simply deserves proper recognition and appreciation.
So, I choose to celebrate the quality of vintage within the 1984V World.
It's my personal creative playground, where limit doesn't exist.
I hope to exhibit my styles and fashions in a visually stimulating way that captivates the audience and compels them to explore more and dive deeper with me as the brand and I evolve.
Style, soul, and funk, are 3 core words that sum up the brands aesthetic, that you will see often.
In each style or look I create, I make sure to add elements of soul to provide depth.
What does that mean...simply put, I funk it up!!!
When I say "funk it up" or "make it funky" that translates to make the clothing your own!
Go beyond the surface and standard of fashion and find what resonates within your soul to complete a look.
You should be wearing the clothes, not the other way around.
Please note, I am committed to finding unique one of a kind pieces along my travels all around the world, to continue to bring the best quality vintage and to show you how to rock vintage and make it relevant.
Stay tuned for our next collection, event, and/or project!
